SVI 3D Medical Workstation
DicomViewer was our first 3D Medical Workstation prototype for demonstration purposes that provided an exemplary workflow for image processing and presentation of CT or MRI datasets, with focus onto interactive auto-stereoscopic visualization.
The GUI is done with Qt 3, the 3D rendering with OpenSG 1.6. Surface and volume rendering are utilized to visualize the scans in 3D. Toolkits like DCMTK http://www.dcmtk.org, ITK http://www.itk.org and VTK http://www.vtk.org enables us to load and extract (segment) interesting data from the volume.
To interact with the data we can use a 3D-Mouse or our SpaceTool, a patented tracking of the finger (position and orientation). The connection with those devices is done using VRPN http://www.vrpn.org.
The stereo rendering utilizes pixel-shaders to interlace the sub-pictures.
