InformationAll the project management is done with the help of the There are a number of ways to get information about the system: Mailing ListsWe use a number of mailing lists for communication. The search form at the top-left of the sourceforge site can be used to search a mailing list when you are viewing its archive. The opensg-announce list is used for major announcements like new
releases or event announcements. The volume is expected to be around 1 mail per
month or less. If you don't want to use OpenSG right now but want to be kept
up-to-date on what's happening in the broader sense, this is a useful list to
be on. The opensg-news list is used for more regular updates, also of minor
nature. We try to post an update of what's happened about once a week.
Depending on how much is happening it might be a little more or less often, but
the target frequency is about one mail per week. Subscribe to this list if
you're using the system and want to keep a feeling about what's happening. This
is not the list for discussions about problems, use opensg-users for
that. The opensg-users list is used for communication among the users and
developers of the system. If you have questions on how to do something or if
you have problems doing something, this is the place to ask. You can also
discuss feature requests or extension ideas here. The opensg-dailybuild list is used for distributing problems with the
daily builds. It is mainly for the core team to make sure the system
compiles on all supported platforms. And finally there's the opensg-commits list. It is an automated
service that automatically sends a mail whenever something is checked into the
CVS. Subscribe if you really, REALLY want to know what's going on. This is
probably a good candidate for digest subscription. TWikiWe also have an OpenSG TWiki site to
document longer discussions and other longer-winded topics. TWiki is a web-based collaborative text editing tool
that supports some nice features to simplify webpage structuring and supports
editing from a web browser. IRCIf you have a quick question you can try to find us in the channel #OpenSG on GalaxyNet (www.galaxynet.org). There's not always somebody there who can help, but most of the time (one of the advantages of a geographically spread development team :-).
